Your brain, simple steps to activate your knowing

How to activate your happy chemicals.

Wisdom comes from within you and you know so much, really you do! Perhaps, however, you have forgotten your inherent knowing through a lifetime of influence outside of yourself. We train our brains and our ‘personalities’, by activating chemicals through our emotional experiences, either happy & joyful or melancholic. When we are in an imbalanced state, we can begin to doubt our own knowing.

There are so many ways to remind yourself to be conscious and to choose to activate that knowing within you and choosing a higher vibration is one of them. Here is one a way to get in touch with who you really are – activate your happy chemicals! Begone thoust clouds of doubt.


Smile and Laugh

Once upon a time, I listened to a series by Anthony Robbins, the inspirational and motivational speaker. He recommended looking in the mirror every morning and smiling. The visual trigger of seeing someone else smile, in this case, you, often will result in smiling ourselves. This has led me the once melancholy Ophelia to out-loud laughter at times and sometimes feeling and thinking that this action is quite ridiculous which in turn led to a joyful feeling of being ridiculous. It is truly uplifting!


Don’t think you can’t because everyone can, even if it is only in their mind. Self-conscious? put on headphones and crank up the music, sing out-loud and you won’t hear yourself so you won’t care if anyone else hears you. What’s wrong with this picture is that we might think that anyone cares if we sing, maybe they are concerned with their own lives and just don’t care if you are singing? or if they do react – Sometimes people around us, when they are unhappy, express disdain because they are caught up in someone elses idea of proper manners or maybe they, are just in a bad mood. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe your off key or on key song might just make someone else laugh or smile and they will be activating joyful chemicals in their brain too!


Put on some music and let your body move. Once me and Hamlet put on some Mozart and danced like heavy rockers and it was so much fun. Sprained ankle or what might seem worse yet being chair bound? Move whatever body part you can or of course, you can always use your imagination and dance in your head. Your brain is powerful.


Make the time to play every day, even if it is only for 5 minutes. Play with your dog, play with your children, play in the garden and get your hands dirty, play a game with friends. No one to play with? Play with yourself 🙂 There are so many different ways to play. Do you walk to work? Mix it up, take a different route, imagine you are on an adventure and must navigate through unknown territories. Make the choice to play.

It is even more important to take a few minutes a day to practice these fun tasks since we become used to feeling a certain way or even at times addicted to feeling a specific way and respond over time like Pavlov’s dogs. Yes, we think that we have control over this and we do if we are conscious but getting caught up in a situation or daily life, that is when we forget and a lot of our actions are then unconcious.
